Well, well, I know ELT is a male dominant (or maybe used to be, considering all the female ELT stars on twitter and FB) sector around the world. However, it has always been more feminist in Turkey. ( maybe it has another reason to be discussed in another post yet I really loved the idea that our field has had wondeful female leaders)
Anyway, the reason of this post is completely different. Maybe you have already seen the conference announcement on FB or twitter but when I found out the conference I felt very excited because this will be a student-organised elt conference. The enthusiasm these young ladies (yep, yep the conference will be organised by 6 ELT students from 2 very good universities in Istanbul) shows made me feel very happy.
Now dear friends if you haven’t planned your 2012 conferences yet, why don’t you check the conference site and plan to come to Istanbul in April?
Eva, this looks fantastic!
The fact that students are organizing it is amazing. I am trying to get students i nvolved in our very passive teaching-learning world here in Mexico by organizing a student panel discussion for our next event in MEXTESOL, the Mexican chapters of TESOL, and it is costing me.
Bravo for the student organizers. This will be one event not to miss! Ellen
